Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Photography Competition
Enter your images of Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal estate in our competition
and you could win some great prizes.

The photography competition is open to photographers of all ages and abilities. All
entries will be considered to feature on this website to promote the estate to
visitors.
There are four categories and you can enter as many or as few as you like.
- Seasons
- People
- Heritage
- Wildlife
All the entered images must have been taken at Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal
within the last 5 years, within the opening times of the estate and from the approved
visitor routes only.
In each category photographs must be entered in CD-ROM format. A separate CD
for each category entered is required.
First Prize Overall Winner (The winner will be picked from any of the four categories and all entries will
be considered.)
Prize: One week stay for two people in a National Trust Holiday Cottage in England. To
be taken during any off-peak season.
There will also be one winner of each of the four categories.
Each winner will win: 4 tickets for Summer Open Air Theatre 2009 at Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal.

Competition Rules
The following are the rules & dates for entry for the 2008 Competition.
- The competition is open to all comers of any age group.
- All images entered must have been taken at The National Trust’s Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Estate near Ripon.
- Entrants can compete in one or more categories.
- The original photo must have been taken within the last 5 years.
Digital file entries and display
- Digital files must be submitted on a CD-Rom in full size jpeg format. Please do not downsize your files.
- Each file should be titled electronically with the following prefixes to facilitate judging for the four categories as: Seasons (SEA); People (PEO); Heritage (HER); Wildlife (WIL)
- The FILENAME must be the TITLE of the image (AKA Caption Name) preceded by the category entered, for example: SEA Fountains Hall Spring.
- Send your CD to Communications Department, Photography Competition, Fountains Abbey and Stuldey Royal, Estate Office, Ripon, HG4 3DY.
Judging
- Judging will take place between 1 and 12 September.
- Results and Prizes
- The winners list will be published at www.fountainsabbey.org.uk on Monday 15 September.
- Prize giving will be arranged with the winners directly.
- A winners list with images will be published on our website as soon as possible after the announcement of the winners.

- Your name and category must be clearly stated on each CD entry. This is a required condition of entry.

The term FAPC refers to Fountains Abbey Photographic Competition
- FAPC reserves the right to display, reproduce and publish in any media any entry, without payment, for the purpose of promoting Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal without time limit.
- No copyright is transferred to the FAPC in respect of any works entered or accepted. Each entrant shall be deemed to warrant that they own the entire copyright in the work or that they have permission from the licensee and/or copyright owner/s for the uses and all necessary model releases and clearances have been obtained. The entrant undertakes to indemnify FAPC in respect of any breach of the same.
- All relevant clearances, including model release consent, must have been obtained by the entrant for the use of the photographs by FAPC for publication and exhibition.
- The responsibility for damage or loss to the photographs, however caused, is the responsibility of the photographer. The FAPC will not be responsible for any loss or damage, whether or not caused by negligence.
- Whilst the FAPC makes every effort to ensure the publication of images is of the highest standard, we are unable to guarantee the quality of reproduction.
